Notebook Topics Overview
Notebook Topics Overview Video
Notebook topics are collections of notes that provide additional information on an object. For example, you could have two notebook topics named Objectives and Constraints respectively. The Objectives notebook topic might provide a list of the main goals to strive for when working on an activity. The Constraints notebook topic could include information on obstacles or roadblocks that you need to be aware of as you progress through your activity. Notebook topics are supported for activities, WBSs, and projects.
Notebook topics are created at the Workspace level and then assigned to objects. Notebook topics with sharing method set to Automatic are inherited in the workspace hierarchy by default. Those notebook topics set to Manual must be selected for display in any child workspaces. The owning workspace of a notebook topic can be changed, and you can only delete, rename, or update the sharing method of a notebook topic while in the owning workspace of that notebook topic.
Objects can have more than one notebook topic assigned to them. One notebook topic can be assigned to multiple objects, but those objects do not share notebook topic contents; the contents of the notebook topic are edited specifically for that object. Notebook topics can include attachments, such as files or images, as well as links to external web pages. To see assigned notebook topics, the Notebook Topics column must be displayed in the current view.
You must be assigned Notebook Topic privileges to add, edit, or delete a notebook topic in the workspace. You must have the Edit privilege assigned for the object in order to assign and edit notes for the existing notebook topics for that object.
