Update an Approved Portfolio Budget Plan
When it is determined that an approved portfolio budget plan must be revised, a new scenario can be created by duplicating the approved plan. The new scenario can then be sent through the same review, propose, and approval processes as needed.
When the original and new scenario are in different planning periods, allocations from the original scenario are copied to the corresponding time phase buckets in the new scenario. For buckets outside the range of the original scenario, demand data from the project is duplicated to allocations in the new scenario.
The approved plan will remain in the Approved state until the new scenario has been approved.
To update an approved budget plan:
- In the object selector, select Portfolio, and then select View Portfolios List.
- Select a portfolio name.
- From the Main Menu, select Cost and Funds, and then select Budget Planning or Published Views.
- Select an analysis view.
- If you selected Budget Planning:
- From Scenario, select the approved scenario.
- From the Actions menu, go to Scenario Options and select Duplicate.
If you selected Published Views:
- Select the approved scenario menu, and select Duplicate.
- In the Duplicate Scenario dialog box, select the Scenario Type, enter a name for the updated plan, and select the Planning Period.
Note: When duplicating across types, resource to budget or conversely, the default displayed planning year is the current planning year. The planning period for the new scenario can be set to current or future planning years.
- Select Duplicate.
- Update the scenario.
- Send the scenario through the Review, Propose, or Approval processes, if required.
Tips
- When the status of the new scenario is set to Approved, the original approved budget plan is set to Retired.
- An approved budget plan can also be updated by selecting Revise Budget Plan from the Scorecard or Spending pages.
