Add a Tile to a Dashboard

You can add a tile to any dashboard that you have the security privilege to edit.

To add a tile to a dashboard:

  1. In the object selector, select Workspace, Project, Portfolio, or Program, and then select an object name from the list.
  2. From the Main Menu, select Dashboards, and then select Manage Dashboards.
  3. (Workspaces only) On the Manage Dashboards page, select the Workspace, Project, Portfolio, or Program tab.
  4. Select a dashboard, select the Context menu, and then select Edit.
  5. On the Edit page, in the Dashboard settings pane:
    • In the Available Tiles section, drag and drop available tile types from the settings pane to the dashboard. You can use the Search field to search for a tile type or use the Tile Type Filter field to filter your options by available tile types.

      Note: To add an already existing chart to a Chart tile type, the chart must be owned by or assigned to the current workspace. You can also add a new chart on the Dashboard Edit page from the properties pane for a selected Chart tile.

  6. In the properties pane for a selected tile, complete the following fields:
    • (Optional) Title: Enter a title. Select Hide title on tile to hide the title.
    • Tile Column Width: Select the screen width of the selected tile. Tile width can vary from 1/8 of the screen to full screen.
    • Tile Row Height: Select the screen height of the selected tile. Tile height can vary from 1/8 of a screen to full screen.
    • Tile Type: Choose a tile type from the Select Tile Type dialog box if you want to change the tile type.
    • Configure any additional settings based on the tile type.
  7. Select Save or Save and View to view the dashboard in the dashboard list.

Tips

  • You can create a chart directly from the Tile settings pane by selecting Create Chart. See Add a Chart for more information.
  • To enable drill-down functionality on a chart tile, in the Tile settings pane select Enable Drill Down, and then select Link Sub Chart. In the Select Chart dialog box, select a chart to drill into. In the sub-chart list, use the Context menu to edit a chart title, replace the selected chart with a different chart, or unlink a chart to remove it from the list. Unlinking a chart will also remove all subordinate charts from the list. For more information, see Charts Overview.
  • You can use Ctrl + Click to select multiple statuses for a Gantt tile.
  • If you experience problems using the External URL tile in a dashboard, consider the following issues:
    • When configuring the External URL tile for the dashboard, you must comply with the following standards:
      • The web address must begin with http:// or https://

        For example: https://www.example.com

    • If you are configuring a portlet such as P6 or Unifier, you must be logged in to the application to see data. This is a static image in which you cannot make changes. If you do not have access to the application shown in the portlet, you will not see any data.
    • Select Preview when configuring an External URL tile to validate the web address. If the web address is invalid, you will receive a message.
    • Some web pages are set to not allow their content to be embedded in another page. To view the content from these web pages, you will need to open a new browser tab.
