Import/Export to P6 Overview
Oracle Primavera Cloud enables you to share project data between P6 and Primavera Cloud using the Import from P6 and Export to P6 features.
The Export to P6 feature allows you to export Primavera Cloud projects to P6 and the Import from P6 feature allows you to import P6 projects, including their baselines and scenarios, into Primavera Cloud.
Primavera Cloud supports project data import and export through P6 XML and XER files. XER refers to Oracle Primavera Proprietary Exchange Format (XER). It is a proprietary file format used by the P6 EPPM application.
Primavera Cloud supports baselines and scenarios exported as part of their current schedule or individual projects in XML format. Baselines and scenarios can only be exported from Primavera Cloud as individual projects in XER format.
When importing data into Primavera Cloud, you can import a valid P6 XML or XER file. An XER file does not contain baselines; however, an XER file can be imported as a baseline or scenario for an existing project. Alternatively, for improved performance, you can import a compressed file containing the P6 XML or XER file. Uploading multiple P6 XML or XER files within a compressed file is not supported, and the maximum file size for import is limited to 1 GB.
While exporting, you can export multiple projects from the same workspace as an XML, XER, or a compressed XML or XER file. Once the export process completes, you can download the exported file using the Download button in the system notifications panel or Manage Services page.
You can view an import log to view details about your imported files. Access the import log from the system notifications panel or the Manage Services page.
Notes:
- After importing P6 project data into Primavera Cloud, you must reschedule the project and recalculate costs before making any project updates.
- The Download link for the exported file remains accessible for up to 30 days after the export job is complete. The exported file will not be available beyond 30 days.
