Configure the Waterline View on the Selection Analysis Page
Display a waterline to help analyze the project or program group within the portfolio to assist you in making decisions on selecting projects for the budget plan. A waterline sorts projects and programs in the portfolio into two separate groups based on the defined constraint limit. Projects and programs above the waterline are those that collectively meet the constraint limit value; all others appear below the waterline.
To configure the waterline view on the Selection Analysis page:
- In the object selector, select Portfolio, and then select View Portfolios List.
- Select a portfolio name.
- From the Main Menu, select Cost and Funds, and then select Published Views.
- In the table, select the name of the analysis view to open it on the Selection Analysis page.
- Select Waterline View.
- In the grid toolbar, select Settings.
- In the Settings panel, select the Waterline Options tab.
- In the Waterline Level section:
- Select options for the following fields to configure the waterline level:
- Limit: The field used as a parameter when setting the waterline level limit.
- Is: Determines the logical relationship between the Limit field and your entry in the associated Value field.
- Value: The limit used to determine which projects and programs meet the defined parameter value and which do not meet the parameters and therefore fall below the waterline.
- Select Only include above waterline level projects automatically to automatically select only projects that meet your waterline preference in your budget planning scenario. When this option is selected, you cannot select any projects that fall below the waterline unless you force them in. You also cannot unselect any projects that are above the waterline unless you force them out.
- Select options for the following fields to configure the waterline level:
- In the Sort By section, specify the first and optionally second and third fields used to rank and sort the projects.
- Select Apply.
Tips
- If a project does not meet the waterline criteria, but must be included in the budget plan, select Forced In. Conversely, if it has been determined that a project will not be included in the budget plan even though it does meet the waterline criteria, select Forced Out.
- The Show Unmet Dependencies and Waterline View options cannot both be enabled at the same time. Selecting one option will disable the other.
